Traill holds a specific place in Bangkok's international school history: founded in 1966 by Mr and Mrs Anthony Traill, it was the first British secondary school established in Thailand, opening with just 82 students. Nearly 60 years later, it remains on its original Bang Kapi campus.
The school follows a British curriculum through IGCSE and A-Levels, and that nearly six-decade history gives it a longer local track record than almost any other British school in the city aside from Bangkok Patana, which was founded around the same era.
Despite that long history, Traill has stayed on its original site rather than expanding into a larger multi-campus operation the way some of the newer UK-affiliated schools have, which keeps it feeling more like a single established community school than a branch of a larger international network.
Families drawn to Traill are often specifically interested in that combination of genuine local history and a straightforward, focused British curriculum, rather than the UK institutional branding that Harrow, Shrewsbury, or Wellington bring to their Bangkok campuses.
