The American School of Bangkok (ASB)

ASB opened in 1983 and is one of Bangkok's longer running American schools, now operating two distinct campuses. The original Sukhumvit site was rebranded XCL American School of Bangkok in 2022 under new ownership by XCL Education, while the Green Valley campus, established in 1997, remains under the ASB name.

Green Valley offers both day and boarding options, which is relatively unusual among Bangkok's American curriculum schools, and follows Common Core standards with AP courses and an IB Diploma pathway available in the final two years.

Because the Sukhumvit campus now operates under separate XCL ownership and branding, families researching this school should be careful to confirm which specific campus, and therefore which ownership and curriculum details, they are actually looking at, since the ASB and XCL names now represent genuinely different operating entities despite the shared history.

With over four decades of combined history across its campuses, ASB carries one of the longer track records among Bangkok's American schools, alongside ISB and Ruamrudee.
