MYIS International School

Founded in 1990 in Pakkret, Nonthaburi, close to the Nichada Thani expatriate community, MYIS is a small international school that takes children from age one through secondary. It is an IB World School teaching the Primary Years and Middle Years Programmes alongside American Common Core standards, and it is accredited by the Council of International Schools.

Size is the point here. With around 250 students from more than 35 nationalities, teachers know each child as an individual, and the school builds on that with close relationships between students, staff and families. The aim is a setting where children feel comfortable being themselves, asking questions and taking risks, and grow in confidence as a result.

The early years programme is play-based and starts at age one, with a separation programme to ease the youngest children in, which makes MYIS one of the few IB schools in the area a family can join before nursery age. The Middle Years Programme runs up to Grade 11, and the school does not currently list a Grade 12 or the IB Diploma, so families with older children should ask how the final years of secondary are handled.

Families choosing MYIS are usually weighing that small, personal IB setting against the scale of ISB nearby, and want a school where their child is known by name without a commute into central Bangkok.
