BGIS was founded in September 1999 by Rev. Sila Jung, founder of the Thailand Sunday School Institute, beginning with just five kindergarten students before expanding to cover Grades 1 through 6 by 2003, a genuinely grassroots growth story compared to schools that opened at full scale from the start.
The school remains explicitly Christ-centered, built around the belief that education should ultimately glorify God, giving it a clear and consistently stated faith mission that shapes both curriculum and daily school culture rather than existing as a secondary characteristic.
Having grown from five students to a full primary school over its first several years, BGIS carries a founder-driven institutional culture similar in spirit to Kevalee International School, another Bangkok school that expanded gradually from a small original core group.
