Samitivej runs both a Special Needs Child Center and a Child Development and Learning Center, staffed by psychiatrists, psychologists, therapists and special education teachers, across its Sukhumvit and Srinakarin campuses. Between them they cover formal diagnosis, psychological assessment, EEG, TOVA attention testing, and then the therapy that follows: speech, occupational, music, art and play therapy plus social skills training. Srinakarin additionally offers neurofeedback and biofeedback.
The reason to start here rather than at a private centre is diagnosis. A hospital paediatric psychiatrist's report carries weight with schools, insurers and, later, exam boards, in a way that an informal opinion does not. Both campuses run 7:00 to 20:00 daily, and English is standard.
Worth knowing
Private hospital pricing. Check with your insurer first, as developmental assessment and therapy are excluded from many expat policies even where the hospital itself is covered.
