The Singapore-founded Julia Gabriel Centre teaches through EduDrama, an approach that puts language learning inside performance and play. The Bangkok centre runs early years classes from six months, speech and drama through nursery and kindergarten, and reading and writing programmes for young primary children, plus Mandarin.
For a child who is quiet, reluctant to speak up, or behind their peers in spoken confidence, drama-based classes can do real work. Plenty of families use it as a gentler alternative to academic tutoring.
Worth knowing
Speech and drama is not speech therapy. If you are worried about a speech or language disorder, see a speech-language pathologist. This is enrichment, and the two are often confused because of the word 'speech'.
